Dr. Waziri Sulu-Gambari comes from the Royal Family of Ilorin Emirate, Kwara State. He is a graduate of University of Manchester, UK where he obtained a PhD in Accountability Policies and Reforms and MSc in Finance. He graduated with a First Class degree in Accounting from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.
He has in-depth knowledge of Governance, Accountability, Economic and Public Policy(ies) related matter. As part of his PhD programme, he analysed how the World Bank and IMF’s social, political and economic policies play out in Emerging Economies and Africa. He has published papers in African Integration & Development Review Journal and Qualitative Research in Accounting & Management Journal.
He consulted for the African Union Commission (AUC) in 2014 mainly for providing economic and social intelligence and analysis in the areas of African economic and social development. In 2015, he consulted for National Defence College, Nigeria. This was followed by another consultation for National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Nigeria.
He is a distinguished gentleman who has also made remarkable achievements in charity/humanitarian activities. He is the Chairman and Founder of Waziri Sulu-Gambari Foundation (WSGF) which is involved in alleviating poverty through youth empowerment, Education and Health support in Kwara State.
He currently works with the Central Bank of Nigeria where he contributes to the development and articulation of policies. He is a lover of sports; actively plays football and rides horses.
